YashiTech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. Chhittoo Riders is our driver-facing companion app to Chhittoo, operated by YashiTech Solutions. This Privacy Policy explains how Chhittoo Riders collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile app and associated services as a driver-partner.

This policy applies specifically to the Chhittoo Riders app. If you also use the main Chhittoo customer app, that usage is governed by our separate Chhittoo Privacy Policy at https://chhittoo.app/privacy-policies.

Note that Chhittoo Riders and the Chhittoo customer app share the same underlying account system — see Section 4 for what that means if you use both.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

Account information: full name, email address, phone number, and password, when you register as a driver. If you choose to sign in with Google instead of creating a password, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google, and Google confirms your identity to us — we never receive or store your Google password.

Driver verification documents: driver's license number and photo, vehicle registration photo, insurance photo, and a profile photo, submitted during onboarding for identity and eligibility verification. These are captured through your device's standard photo picker, which may use your camera or an existing photo from your gallery — the app itself does not request standing access to your camera.

Vehicle information: vehicle type, model, and license plate number.

Communications: any messages you send us for support, or feedback you provide.

1.2 Information collected automatically

Location data, including precise (GPS) location while the app is open, and while the app is running in the background during an active ride — see Section 2 below for a detailed explanation of background location use.

Ride and trip data, including pickup and drop-off locations, routes traveled, trip duration and distance, fares, and timestamps.

Device information, including device model, operating system version, and app version, used for diagnosing crashes and compatibility issues.

Usage data, such as which features you interact with, to help us improve the app.

1.3 Information from riders

When you accept a ride, we share limited information about the rider with you (name and pickup/drop-off details) so you can complete the trip — see Section 4.

2. Location Data, Including Background Location

Location access is core to how Chhittoo Riders functions, and we want to be specific about how and when we use it, since this is a permission we take seriously.

While onboarding: We use your approximate location to help confirm your service area.

While online and available for rides: We use your live location to match you with nearby ride requests.

During an active ride, including

when the app is backgrounded: We continue collecting your location so that the rider can see your live position and estimated arrival time, and so our systems can accurately calculate trip distance, duration, and fare. This is the reason Chhittoo Riders requests background location access — without it, a rider would lose visibility into your position the moment you switch to another app or lock your phone mid-trip, which would materially break the core ride-tracking experience.

Before requesting "Allow all the time" location access, the app shows you an in-app screen explaining this specific use, separate from this policy — you'll always see that explanation directly in the app before the permission prompt appears, not just here.

We do not collect or use your location for advertising purposes, and we do not sell your location data to third parties.

You can disable location access at any time through your device's Settings, though doing so will prevent you from receiving or completing ride requests, since location is fundamental to the service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Verify your identity and eligibility to drive on the Chhittoo platform, including via Google Sign-In where you choose to use it.

Match you with nearby ride requests and calculate accurate routes, fares, and arrival estimates.

Facilitate communication between you and riders for the duration of a trip.

Send you notifications about ride requests, ride status updates, and account-related messages.

Process and display your earnings, ride history, and performance ratings.

Maintain the security and integrity of our platform, including detecting fraud or misuse.

Improve and troubleshoot the app.

Comply with legal obligations, including those related to transportation services in Nepal.

4. How We Share Your Information

With riders: When you accept a ride, the rider can see your name, profile photo, vehicle details, and live location for the duration of that trip.

Your phone number is shared with the rider only for the duration of an active ride and is removed from their view once the trip is completed or cancelled.

With Google, if you use Google Sign-In: Google acts as your identity provider and confirms your identity to us. Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Across YashiTech Solutions' apps: Chhittoo Riders and the Chhittoo customer app run on the same backend infrastructure. If you use the same email address or account across both apps — for example, if you also order as a customer — your basic account information (such as name and email) may be associated between the two, so our systems recognize you consistently. Your driver-specific data (documents, ride history, earnings) and your customer-specific data (orders, delivery addresses) each remain scoped to their respective app and are not merged together.

With service providers: We use third-party infrastructure providers (for example, cloud hosting, push notification delivery, and mapping/routing services) strictly to operate the app. These providers only receive the data necessary to perform their function and are not authorized to use it for their own purposes.

We do not use advertising identifiers (such as Google's Advertising ID), and we do not share your data with advertising or attribution networks, including Facebook/Meta or Google Ads.

For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of YashiTech Solutions, our drivers, or our riders.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Android Permissions — What We Use and Why

The table below lists every permission Chhittoo Riders requests and the specific feature each one supports. We only request permissions that are actually used by a feature in the app.

Permission Why we need it

Internet / Network State Required for all communication with our servers — logging in, receiving ride requests, syncing trip data. Precise & Approximate Location To match you with nearby ride requests and display your position on the map while driving.

Background Location To continue sharing your live position with the rider during an active trip, even if the app is backgrounded (see Section 2 for detail).

Foreground Service (+ Location type) Required by the Android system to run the background location tracking described above as a visible, ongoing notification while a ride is active — Android does not permit silent, hidden background location tracking, and we do not attempt to.

Post Notifications (Push Notifications) To alert you immediately when a new ride request comes in, and to keep you updated on ride status. Full-Screen Intent To display an urgent, ring-style alert for incoming ride requests, similar to an incoming call, so time-sensitive requests aren't missed inside a pocket or a locked screen.

Photo access (via your device's photo picker) To let you select or capture your profile photo and vehicle/license/insurance documents during onboarding. We do not have standing access to your camera or photo gallery outside of this picker.

We do not request access to your contacts, SMS, call logs, or advertising identifiers, and we do not integrate Facebook or other social/advertising SDKs.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and ride history for as long as your driver account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 8).

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted network connections and access-controlled backend infrastructure — to protect your information. Sensitive session data on your device is excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

Access and update most of your account information directly within the app.

Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to any legal retention requirements (for example, financial records related to completed trips).

Withdraw location permission at any time via device Settings, understanding that this will limit or disable core app functionality.

9. Children's Privacy

Chhittoo Riders is intended for use by drivers who meet the minimum legal driving age and eligibility requirements in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and driver accounts require identity verification as part of onboarding.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy reflects the most recent revision.
